Two Unforgettable Sunrises

It is still difficult to digest that this was the last sunrise we witnessed in the first innings at Pune. Yes, my dear friend, now we are not in Pune. That day, our sweet home for 23 months in Pune was turning out to be a foreign place when the Agarwal guys were packing our stuffs one by one. Ohh! We had forgotten that it was a rented house that we had to leave one or the other day!
The house was full of dust and trash by the time we were about to lock the door for the last time. But, our eyes were watching something else… Venu’s first visit to Pune, hospitality of Vidyakka and her family who showed us this house, our first week stay at Cosmos in beautiful Magarpatta City, setting up this house into our home, the balcony where we spent our weekends, watching birds, my flower pots, my struggles while setting up my blogs for the first time, enjoying fresh vegetables from nearby subzi mandi, weekend visits to Aditi Garden, Laxmi Road, mouth watering Vada Pav, the festivals, the peace loving friendly people of Pune, very kind house owner, the rows of neem trees by the road side, worn out buses, inexpensive auto rickshaws, beautiful places we visited, great feeling of revisiting history though the forts, unique hills found in Maharashtra, the coldest winter we experienced, our first car and my Singer Talent we bought here, the happiness of finding a Kannada magazine at a bookstall, memorable visits of our family from native who fell in love with Pune, realising the depth of Venu’s love for Yakshagana when he missed it here, sight of beautiful coastal Karnataka on the way to our native… It seems what we had experienced was just a beautiful dream…
‘Bye Pune :(’ That text message from my sister had made me weep… Heart is heavy… Late night 12.45 it is… Date shows 31st October. Silently we started from there in our Alto 800 with our baggage, flower pots and lots of memories. I could hear the security guard who opened the gate for us, “जा रहे हो साब ? फिर कब आओगे ? आना ज़रूर…”
‘Welcome to Karnataka :)’, my sister had sent another text message. ‘Heppy journey. God bless you :)’, Amma loves to see smiles on our faces when we see her texts with misspelled words :). Mava (father-in-law) would have read the text I had sent, I remember he had asked me to teach him how to reply. Both of our brothers would have fallen asleep.
Time heals everything. Feeling better nearing Karnataka border. We are not going to a remote place! We are going back to our own state! To namma Bengaluru! After that long night drive (no no, I wasn’t awake all the night, it was Venu who was awake and driving) on NH 4, we saw the Sun rising again… We were in Karnataka near Belagavi, ready to go ahead and to make new memories crooning this Gulzar’s poem sung by Kishore Kumar…
आनेवाला पल, जानेवाला है
हो सके तो इस में जिन्दगी बिता दो
पल जो ये जानेवाला है...

  15. Yaaay! So we are in the same city!
Hmm, yes Bengaluru is also good… I didn't like it in the first innings stay. I didn't miss it when we moved to Pune but, I must admit, I cherish memories of those areas nearby Basavanagudi… those Parks and that library nearby Gavipuram even today.
Yes, it is the way of life… If we think we are going to miss this moment later, even the hardest moment becomes valuable!
    TC! Keep smiling 🙂

  16. The happiness of finding the first kannada magazine in a stall. he he, I can so relate to that.

This dates back to about 5 years now when I was in delhi and I so badly wanted to read kannada.. We traveled for literally about half a day to find a kannada magazine. I think it was taranga and tushara, the two magazines which really did bring back quite a lot of memories and the joy – incredible 🙂

  17. That is great! You are in Bangalore!
Best wishes for a happy stay here.

  18. Loved the pics!!! A sure inspiration for an artist!
