Can you guess the two flowers? 

The two flowers are of the most liked vegetable by all, Aloo or Batata or Potato! Yes, there are two Aloo types i.e., one with light cream and another with light purple. There is no difference in the potato grown in the two plants. But, the sprouts of the two varieties are either creamy or purplish.

Potato Plant

Potato belongs to Solanaceae or nightshade family. The plant grows almost 3/4th feet. Flower stalk grows half feet upright above the leaf level. A flower stalk contains maximum almost upto 15 beautiful flowers. As we all know, potato tubers are grown below ground. Each crop is of about three months duration.

Nutrients

Potatoes are rich in protein, vitamine C & vitamine B6 (builds cells including brain cells and provides cardiovascular protection), copper, potassium, tryptophan and manganese. Potato is rich in fibre too. Potatoes also contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. Important compounds like carotenoids, flavonoids, caffeic acid, proteins like patatin exhibit activity against free radicals.
