An Abstract Floral Art

An abstract floral art drawn using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app

A floral art drawn in fingertip using adobe photoshop sketch app.

What to do when you want to draw/paint butyou can’t take your colours out? Thanks to digital drawing apps that are very handy.

This flashback plays every time I make digital art. There were some days (2001), I had withdrawn from computer class because I hated computers.  I was not happy with the fact that computers can do all tasks humans can do. I was not at all happy that a computer can draw. We humans create arts with passion and I didn’t understand why computers want to steal our happiness?

But, today my day is incomplete without a digital gadget. I work in the digital world. Now I know, computers don’t draw. But, they have tools to ease us in drawing.

I drew this floral art in abstract manner using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app. This is a leisurely drawn artwork. Its been almost five months now, since I started drawing digitally. Just can’t imagine drawing and thus providing food for my brain almost every week having a busy toddler around without my ASUS ZenPad.

How do you feed food for your brain? Do share with us. Thank you!

Fun Activity – What Do You See?

Fun activity continued – pareidolia, seeing the unseen – a creative sketch of objects seen in day-to-day life on a chips tile picture.

We had seen this picture of chips floor tile last week and had fun seeing an elephant’s image on it. Wikipedia lists this psychological phenomenon as Pareidolia and what Leonardo da Vinci wrote about it is so true!

Today, I came along with the same picture before you. Let’s play again! What else do you see in the picture? Let’s screw up our creative vision!

A creative vision check with a chips tile floor

Creative Vision – What Do You See?

What do you see? Birds? Animals? Human faces? Objects? Hills? I drew some of the objects I saw. Please take a look (click on the images to enlarge) after you make a list of your findings.

Creative Vision - seeing the unseen objects on a chips floor tile. I saw birds, animals, human faces, shoes, etc. Drew some of them.

Some of our imagination may match some may not. It totally depends upon individuals. I would love to know what do you see. I am curious to know how imagination works differently from person to person. Please write to me the list of things you saw in the picture. Will you? Thanks!

Fun Activity – Do You See The Elephant?

About a fun act by a toddler, seeing the unseen, a creative sketch of an elephant on a chips tile picture and significance of creative vision in personality development.

 See… An Elephant!

“Aayi…!!!”, thrilled Vallabhi showed me something on the floor. It was an amazing moment when I realized what it was! The two year old was showing me a small black spot (of about one square cm size) on a chips tile identifying ‘Aane’ (Kannada) – an elephant shape in it!

A creative view - Elephant picture on chips tiles floor

Do You See The Elephant?

This happened yesterday. Immediately after the toddler slept, I took photo of the elephant on the floor. I opened the image in Adobe Photoshop Sketch app, reduced opacity and drew the elephant over it. I modified some lines to get refined shapes. I don’t usually trace while drawing. But, this is for you to check out.

Elephant Image on the chips tiles

The Elephant!

I drew one more elephant with some modifications. I curled the trunk and changed the tail. What else would I expect from me 😛

Fingertip Digital Art of an elephant seen on Chips Tiles - Creative vision

I came to know recently that such ‘seeing the unseen’ activities are known as Pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon representing creative vision when I saw arts created by an artist. I was surprised about my daughter’s creative vision when she showed me this elephant. I have been seeing images in things around me since my childhood and my daughter does the same too. May be, most of the kids (I believe, every grown ups too) have such creative vision that is hidden (just like the love for drawing) somehow while growing up?

Creative Vision And Personality Development

Creative vision keeps our brain active in a fun way. Imagination skill and memory develop with such activities. Not to forget, we stay curious and confident being creative. Seeing the unseen is the key to develop the art of problem solving.

Do you see pictures on random things around you? Or do you have a kid at home who identifies shapes on random objects? How do you encourage them to explore creativity within? I believe, the creativity flows everywhere and we all have it within. We just need to let it spring. It doesn’t matter which profession we are into, creativity keeps our originality alive. If not, we would just be robots. What’s your opinion?

P.S: Words of Leonardo da Vinci in the Wikipedia link updated above about Pareidolia are inspiration to artists.

Mary Kom – Fingertip Digital Art

A creative fingertip digital word art portrait of MC Mary Kom

MC Mary Kom is the other name for passion, determination and hardwork. She is a role model for women empowerment. Mary Kom – a mother of three, an active boxer, founder of Mary Kom Foundation and an active MP – won her 5th gold medal at the Asian Women’s Boxing Championships on 8th November 2017.

On 8th November 2016, PM Narendra Modiji announced demonetisation. Remembering that bold step, we were celebrating ‘Anti Black-money Day’. To add feathers to the cap, Magnificence Mary won her 5th gold medal at the Asian Women’s Boxing Championships and Indian Hockey Team of Women won Asian Women’s Hockey Championship on the same day. Yes, we must keep fighting against black money with determination just the way the girls have shown it! The victory is surely ahead!

Thrilled by this ‘Betiyon ka Success’, I thought of sketching portrait of Mary Kom. Due to the limited time I get to sketch because of our little wonder at home, I couldn’t include the Hockey concept. The task was planned for 8th November itself. But, I could manage sketching her yesterday. This creative word art has words ‘Mary Kom’ within the sketch. ‘Mary’ is in her hair , ‘Ko’ in her eye pupils and ‘m’ is in her teeth. This fingertip digital portrait is drawn with Adobe Photoshop Sketch app.

Congratulations, Mary Kom! Congratulations to the Indian Women’s Hockey Team! You are inspiration to the youth. We love you!

Deepavali Greetings – Fingertip Digital Art

Deepavali greeting card portraying oil lamps and cows, painted using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app with fingertip.

Fingertip digital painting by DeSi Abhivyakti in Deepavali Greeting Card with small baked clay oil lamps, mother cow and baby cow.

An evening filled with warmth of charming light from tiny oil lamps…

The mesmerizing blend of light aroma of oil/ghee and baked clay lamps…

The meditating aura created by light, oil and baked clay lamps…

The relaxed mode due to therapeutic oil massage and steaming hot water bath taken early in the morning…

– all set to take us inward again towards our inner selves, our true selves!

lt’s Deepavali again!

I love the festival of lights. I love the way it connects us to our soul. Deepavali reminds me of Abhyanga (full body oil massage followed by hot water bath, taken early in the morning) on Narakachaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waning phase of the moon); Lakshmi Pooje (worshipping of Goddess Lakshmi) on Amavasya (the no moon day); Angadi Pooje (rituals performed at shops for success in business), Balindra Pooje (welcoming Bali Chakravarthi and seeking his blessings) and Go Pooje (worshipping the mother cow) on Kaarthika Paadya (first day of waxing phase of the moon in Karthika month)

We are celebrating Deepavali in our native where people are not so crazy about burning money, nature and peace on fire crackers. Deepavali has become more special to us. Vallabhi, our little wonder, was born on the day of Narakachaturdashi 🙂 She is turning two this year. So, she is going to be with her grannies, grandpas and cousins, away from crackers on the occasion of her Lunar Calender birthday 🙂

The picture above is the Deepavali greeting card made for you, dear reader. I wish you and your family a very happy Deepavali 🙂 May the festival of light enlighten us! Let’s say no to crackers, not even for any celebrations. Let’s promise newborns, aged people, birds, animals and the mother nature that we will celebrate a peaceful Deepavali. Happy Deepavali to all!

Fingertip digital painting by DeSi Abhivyakti in Deepavali Greeting Card with small baked clay oil lamps, mother cow and baby cow.

Playing Kids – Digital Art

A digital art of playing kids created using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app.

A digital art of kids in the nature playing with a ball. This art is drawn using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app in my fingertip.

I thought of drawing something different this time. Nature is my favourite subject. So, I decided this post will be with a landscape drawing.

There was no prior plan when I opened Adobe Photoshop Sketch app in my ASUS ZenPad. I started with a tree. Drew two more trees. Now I know how to use layers. So, I drew the trunks and branches in another layer. Then I drew the green grass. I added the land in another layer at the back. I drew the details of blue sky, mud house, flying birds and kids separately in different layers. Sky is in the bottom most layer. Entire work is done with my fingertip. Probably, I could add more details with a graphic stylus.

Adding more layers made loading and saving the project slower. I didn’t merge the layers when the work is complete. May be merging would increase the loading speed.

This is a simple drawing. I believe, the flying birds and playing kids gives life to this art. Hope you enjoy looking at the playing kids!

Lal Bahadur Shastri

A creative word art of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birthday.

It’s Gandhi Jayanthi. I thought what can I do today? While all the so called Gandhians have long forgotten Gandhigiri, what can I do today? Yes, I can think of a great man who lived the policies of Gandhi and shares birthday with him. Yes, as we all know, it is none other than the second prime minister of Bharat (India), Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri or Shastriji.

Lal Bahadur Shastri - Creative Word Art by DeSi

Shastriji lead by example how to live for the country. People follow a man of actions. When Shastriji requested, entire nation gave up their one meal per day for several days, for the sake of country. His words, ‘Jai Jawan! Jai Kisan!’, inspires us even today!

The picture above is a quick word art of Shastriji made today. ‘LAL’ forms the Gandhi topi Shastriji used to wear. ‘b’ is in his forehead and right eye. ‘a’ is in the pupil of the right eye. ‘h’ shapes the nose. ‘a’ is in the left eye’s pupil. ‘d’ is in his left cheek. ‘u’ is in the left ear’s outline. ‘r’ outlines the right cheek. Word ‘Shastri’ is drawn in the form of his coat.

Yes, the lines are not so refined as it is drawn with my fingertip on the screen of ASUS ZenPad 8.0. But still I enjoy Adobe Photoshop Sketch without a stylus.

Mysore Dasara – Creative Word Art

A creative word art depicting symbolic representation of ‘Mysore Dasara’ in a greeting card drawn using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app.

Navaratri is special to Karnataka because of the world famous Mysore Dasara. Cultural city Mysore gets busy with Dasara from the first day of Navaratri. The celebration continues till the tenth day i.e., Vijayadashami. Devi Chamundeshwari’s Jamboo Savari is the main attraction on this day.

This year, Vijayadashami falls on 30th of September 2017 as we know. On the eve of Karnataka’s Naadahabba, Desi Abhivyakti presents a ‘Mysore Dasara’ word art greeting card. The words ‘Mysore’ and ‘Dasara’ are doodled as Mysore palace and as elephant head respectively. Hope you love to find out the letters.

A creative word art greeting card depicting 'Jamboosavari of mysore Dasara'. Mysore palace is drawn with word 'Mysore' and elephant head with word 'Dasara'. An Adobe Photoshop Sketch app creation.

This Navaratri and Mysore Dasara greeting card is drawn with the help of Adobe Photoshop Sketch app. In my previous word art, I tried to understand the pens. Now I am getting used to the app. I experimented with ruler and shapes this time. Making layers invisible/visible eases working. I learned to resize the drawings in different layers. It is so wonderful to see the layers separately in the previously saved projects. Found ‘redo’ option somehow on the screen but yet to understand the way to do it. To sum up, I am loving, loving and loving it!

Note: The Mysore palace pictured in this word art is symbolic representation only. Drawing a more realistic one in future is in my wishlist.

Once again, Wishing You All A Very Happy Dasara! May the primordial power strengthen us.

Dasara Greetings in Kannada

Dasara word art greeting card for this Navaratri festival drawn in Kannada with Adobe Photoshop Sketch app.

Happy Dasara to all the Readers 🙂

If you know Kannada, we can play a small game. Can you identify the term ‘dasara’ in Kannada? You can encourage your kids to try their hands too.

A kannada word art greeting card for 'Dasara' festival designed using Adobe Photoshop Sketch app.

Done? Let’s see where the term ‘dasara’ is. ‘da’ is in elephant’s ear. ‘sa’ forms the trunk and eye. And ‘ra’ is the laddu in elephant’s trunk which is yours if your answer is correct.

Enjoying learning to sketch with ‘Adobe Photoshop Sketch’ app. I’m totally in love with the app! Let’s talk about the app sometimes.

Trying to add Kannada text using ZenUI keyboard. Please inform me if you can’t see Kannada text in this post. Thanks!

Once again, Happy Navaratri and Dassera Festival to all! Pray and enjoy!
